Looks good john, im really lookin forward to seeing this anim. See the cliff shot, i think u need a line along the bit ive marked out, to help give the bit there standing on some depth and also makes them look like there standing on somthin.

Are u goin to be using shadows in this part of the anim ?

There's meant to be a line there, there was at one point, not sure if it only works on some angles or something, I'm not too bothered but I am going to play about with it, I'll work something out anyway. Not too bothered bout shadows, as is the style, there's shading on the characters and rocks and if they give off shadows, even better! But I'm not gonna go crazy about it as they are meant to look 2Dish!

Okay, here's they renders, as promised!
This concludes this part of the tour.
Once everything's all animated and I eventually get it on the net I'll post a link to it here. Although everyone reading this thread'll probably see it in uni anyway, Fraser.
P.S. I fixed the line on the cliffside!
I'll maybe post some stills of the animation before I get the whole thing on the net, I'll see what happens.

I'm going to make a little addition to the tour, just realised I didn't post a textured version of my titles, also I've included a render of a very simple set that appears in the animation. It's basicly just the same couch as the living room, coloured differently and slightly differently shaped. Diceded to throw these in to tie it all off for now!

Na, intro part'll be like how I sent it to you, timing'll be slightly different. Tried a few things but going along the lines of the one you saw turned out the best.
Oh, and it's a digital box, not a video. They don't have a video in their living room anymore as more and more people seem to be doing. I recon his mum moved it into her room.

Close, it's Prison Break!
I just needed a 16:9 video to test out my sizes, so I used that as it was at hand and all was good and perfecto!

hehe !

They must have copied that shot from shawshank, sorta like a hommage to it. Im sure the opening shot of the prison in shawshank is the same view and it flys right over it.

How much character animation have u got in this anim ?

Talking Long overdue finished animation

Haha, so yeah erm... over a year on and I was sitting about thinking of how I never did post my finished animation here. And I haven't been on here in a while either and thought I'd jump on and see how the forums are going without me.

So anyway, without further ado, here, for your viewing pleasure, all the models you see being made throughout this thread in animated form, Tyrobosaurus Mechs on YouTube:

Ahhhhh!!! Nostalgia. Uni was fun. I even miss the stress it brought!

If you wanna check out more of my work, my showreel is also up on YouTube. You can navigate to my profile to view it from the above link. (These things are also now all on my website (which at the moment doesn't seem to be working. :eek3: ))

Nice to see you again, John. It was good to see the finished animation although I must confess, over time I completely forgot this WIP was here.
So were the whole non-tv character animations done as cel shades then? If so, then those were mightily impressive. :attn: Hope the world of work outside of uni is going well.

Hi there fallen.

Glad you liked my animation. I didn't really expect many people to remember me, except hopefuly my fellow uni folks who may or may not see this anyway. But thought it was about time I tied the thread up.

All the human characters in the animation are 2D, the teddy, and the robot toys are all 2D. All the environments are 3D cel shaded and the robots on the TV are 3D cel shaded as well. Basically anything in the animation that's cel shaded, there's pictures of in this thread somewhere I think.

As for work outside uni; not really done a lot since leaving. Did the odd bit of work here and there but only really starting to advertise my services to get some freelance work. I'll see how that goes in the next wee while. Although I'm kind of waiting to get a new PC before I really get started as mine ain't too healthy at the mo (think there's something up with the motherboard).

Also wanna get started in a few of my own projects, but as you know sometimes things like that don't happen despite your best planning.

So how's the world of Simply these days? Doesn't seem to be too much activity going on at the moment. Was there not talk of combining all the simply sites into one as some point? Or did that happen without me noticing?
