it's looking good with a few minor things that could be changed in a jiffy.

The metallic part should have a more brushed metallic/silver color scheme. right now it looks a bit more light blue than silverish...

also looking at a USB tip that i have i saw that the white part on the inside continues onto the front of the usb. in the picture the front part is black, but maybe should be white?? correct me if i'm wrong though i'm pretty sure not all USB connectors are the same

Like i said these are minor things and the mesh looks in place. Wouldn't mind seeing a shaded wireframe shot.

Funny I just happen to be working on one of these myself.

However, I am following a tutorial at this link

It's a Maya tutorial but is simple enough that most of the modeling should have some lightwave counter part. Not sure how useful the texturing section in day 2 of the tutorial will be but hope it helps you out.
