Here is a test I did to see if it was worth while putting a shattering building in the scene. I don't think so but still I'll show it.
Sorry if I didn't take the time to do a proper render, the test was to make the building shatter nicely (which I think I accomplished), not to make a nice render. Imagine being under one of those falling pieces. :p It is about 1 Mb, C&C are welcomed. |

Kvaalen,
Nice. Did you slice and hand animate that or use Kaboom? For some added realism, I'd maybe look at adding some secondary bounces to the pieces of the building (well the smaller ones at least), and adding some roll to the larger chunks as they land since all the parts simply stop dead when they hit the groundplane. |

Mark, I once (along time ago) tried using Kaboom but it didn't work, it gave me some sort of stupid error, so I emailed the guy who told me that that error was because I hade different languages on my computer instead of just english (and that happens only with Windows XP). The problem is that I need the other languages so I gave up on Kaboom. This explosion was made with the plugin called SG_Explosion2 . I just looked at the plugin again and I couldn't find anything that can make the pieces roll.
The pieces are supposed to fall and stick into the grass but I agree the smaller pieces should roll a bit. If you notice though the particles roll. I updated the explosion a little, I made it in such a way that a little bit of the base still stays. I don't think it is worth uploading unless some one really wants to see it. You should be getting un update soon.

Here is the way the hills will look, they will be farther away and smaler which will make them look a little better. No snow since it is during the summer. :p C&C are welcomed. |

Up close, they seem to look a little grainy, but if they're going to be smaller in the final composition I guess they'll look pretty cool.
And it's nice to see a skytracer sky here that isn't a sunset for a change |

I tried to put the mountins in the background, still not satisfied.
I tried making them bigger, smaller, less/more fog... but something just doesn't look right. I took out the spaceships temporarly. Well anyway, here it is, tell me what you think. |

Kvaalen,
It's looking really good. I'd like to see some more variation in the cornfields (either some hedges, tractor lines, small farmsteads or highways) and agree that some sort of horizon is needed. Why not post a render with the mountains to show us all what it looks like. At least that way we can crit. |

Actually, I've just taken another look at the render, and see the mountains in the background (missed them before since I've been out for a few beers tonight)...
I'd maybe try a couple of things.
