The eye has been welded to the head and detail put in, also a clear layer has been put over the eye.

thats looking nice!!! i have some points for you to improve the texture!!
* you should make a greyscale map from your texture you have now, and use it for a bump map!! * the eye texture could use some more detail i think!! * im also not sure about the color!!! i still think a more blue'ish color would look better!! * also add some darker parts around the eye, jaws, legs, fins and stuff like that!! thats it!!! hope i gave you some help with this |

i meant to say i WASN'T very happy. sry.
Thats for the feedback bullet, i would like to know how to do the greyscale map you are talking about. I have plans to darken up some areas but not to sure exactly how i am going to do it. This dinosaur is like a croc and lives in lakes, swamps and muddy areas, thats why i think the colour should stay earth tones. Just for the record he is like a seal. lives in the water but comes ashore to lay eggs and lie in the sun ect. Last edited by ozwolf; 11-08-2004 at 12:45 PM. |

If you're going to use a tiled skin texture, I'd really recomend you go back and model more details into the body. Don't forget, this is a 2-monther.

then open the surface editor and click on the t after the Bump setting. In the new window you can select your black-white image and when you are going to render you will see the result!! don;t know if you understand me ( i hope you will ) but i am a little bit drunk at the moment so don;t shoot me if you dont understand me hehe good luck ( maybe another one can explain it better )!! |

Ok my textures are working like this i have a JPEG image bump map for the scales, then a colour gradient working of the bump map, then over the top of that is a colour proceedural texture.
I thought it looked really good, but there is always a way to make it better and i would appreciate any extra help i can get. This is my bump map. |

i am makin my own texture from the lightwave insted of doin UV. i have a really cool dino skin i made by have a bump map wiv a gradient and sumin else but i 4got wot it was. lol
a way i have made mine better is play around wiv colours i think gettin the right colour is vital. im not sayin urs is bad but it helps 2 see other colours. one other thing i have a skin simlar 2 urs but as my skin goes down the body the scales get lesser and the colour changes wiv it. looks cool insted of havin the same texture all over the model. hope that helped in any way. nice work. gud luck. |

thanks for your input speedy i may have to explore making my own texture and i am very keen to see how yours comes out.
I am going to go back and have another look at the unwrap plugin that came with my insdie lightwave 7 book it says it makes a perfectly unwrapped cylindrycal projection of the polygons that have been unwrapped. Does anyone have experience using this plugin? Last edited by ozwolf; 12-08-2004 at 08:56 AM. |

Here is an update. The model has had alot of extra texture work done. The under belly will get abit more treatment next and then i will finish off the eye. I have given him a pose as well. Thx.
