Ive started animating my final thing, and my character has to walk diagonally across the floor to get to the door. I dont know why but i just cant seem to think through the movements properly. I havent had alot of animation experience. All ive done is a few tasks last year and 1 walk-cycle this whole year, and its all been fairly basic, and all of them were things that walked in straight lines, I just cant seem to visualise the character walking when its goin at an angle, maybe its because in all the viewports he is at a perspective view but im pulling my hair out here...... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
Any help would be great, before i but my boot through my monitor !! Cheers  |

I know you've got it sorted now, but for future ref: for characters that don't have to move particularly realistically (like most of the stuff we're doing) you can get away with just parenting the entire character to a null and use this to control the direction of the walk. Taking this a bit further, if you want to make him walk in an arc, all you have to do is add another null and place it at the centre of the arc, parent the master null to this and rotate it, then all you need to do is calculate the circumference of the arc to work out how many cycles of the walk it will take to cover it...and so on and so forth...
Like I said, this technique doesnt really hold up for any sort of realistically expressive walking, but to get a basic A to B walk it works out pretty well - It's how I did my wee 'Ooga Booga' guys last year. Maybe someone out there with more experience could shed some light on better ways?? (Please!) |

cheers for that. I think ill give that a we bash before i start animating my CA4, i suppose even using that teck if u spend some time fine tuning the curves and stuff u can prob get pretty nice results
Hopefully i can shoot throu this animation in a week or so, i dont want to spend to long on it, i can always fine tune it next summer, i reallt want to leave myself 4 weeks to work on my CA4 so that come Jan-10th-14th ill have everything ready for animation |

The Pizza Guy should probably have a less angry, more nutral expression in the first frame then gradually get angry at the other guy.
Other than that it's lookin' cool! |

I disagree, I think the look on the pizza guys face in the 1st frame conveys a sort of disdain for the customer and apathy to the job you would expect from a pizza delivery guy (no offence pizza delivery guys, dont spit on my order, please!)
