My place is so tiny that when Koots came to my home to teach me, I had to stay out.

Nope. Dual monitors is simply twice the screen size. One Keyboard, one mouse, twice the space to run apps. It is really helpful for graphics/3D AND for programming!

Computing with two monitors is like making love to a beautiful woman -- once you've had twins, nothing else will do

Funny Mark.... LoL

Anyways, the dual monitor will allow you to strech the screen enough to split in two...

Lets say you have your layout in one screen and the Modeler in the other.

Whatever you do to manage all opened windows in one screen, you will be able to split the windows on biger screen without sacrifice the sice of the windows.

I used for a while with Adobe Premiere, but I got so confused and my neck started hurt, so I had to give it up.

I am now enviouse. Really nice set up you have there. Maybe I can take out some shelves on my desk and get two monitors. I used a dual monitor system at the apple store, I watched the preveiw for finding nemo on two screens! Just watching one window go from one monitor to the other is woth the expense, it's rather enertaining. I hope to get a nice system, someday.

a 800 PIII ain't too bad, with more RAM (512) and a better video card it's ok for medium resolution models.

I'm on a P4 3GHz (OCed to 3.26) and a P4 2.533

Question Does the Memory get halved???

Hi people,

I am thinking of getting another monitor from our friend Santa Clause soon, but something I have been thinking about is the video memory...

I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX5600 128mb graphics card, with dual monitor ability. If I plug in the other monitor, will it drop the card to 64mb Ram each screen, or keep it at 128?

And if it does drop, it is a noticeable drop?

Thanks,

Kevin McPoland

No it wont drop anything to 64. It dosent apply the video ram to each monitor because for dual monitors it just extends the width of your desktop. You wont notice anything but that you have twice the deskspace. The video memory isnt a factor with two monitors, because in a normal two monitor setup your desktop just gets extended by twice the width. So for instance if your running 1024x768 desktop resolution on one monitor, dual monitors would would then be 2048x768 Desktop resolution witch takes a little more video memory but only like 1 or 2 megs. When you play games it turns off one of your monitors.
