Hmm you got some good advice there... Ok, I think I'll add a road and make the grass less dense.
The scene isn't yet finnished, I just found out that I had been rendering the ships and all with the camera in the wrong position (if you notice the terrain takes half the frmae instead of a third) so now I have hours of rendering before I add anything.

After all the rerendering I had to do I fainally have an update.
There are many small things updated like the mother ships, the window frame (on the shack), the road, camera angle, grass and some more small things.

In the next update I am planing to lower the tree a bit, raise the mountains, give a little more variation to the grass and anything else people will advise. (And ofcourse there will be more after that.)

Woot - Independance Day all over again

Now all we need is some fire ... and some big explosions ... and people running and screaming ... and ... and ... I'll shut up now :p :p

Here are the fire, explosions, and smoke (sorry Mark no people screaming :p).

They were all done in lightwave but they aren't final, I still have a good amount of stuff to tweak.
BTW I also changed the stuff I said I would in my earlier post

That is really coming together now...

The fire in the city could do with a little blending (fog?) adding to it as it currently looks a little stuck onto the scene.

Apart from that though - awesome.

Thanks for the comments.

Mark: You're right, the fog doesn't seem to have any effect on the Hypervoxels , I guess I'll have to do it manually in post. (I didn't see any button that says "effected by fog" or something of the sort.)

Mumbo: Thanks, I guess those ships go for the big stuff only, they don't get any enjoyment from destroying a little abandoned shack .

I'll work on it some more once I get home, and the dead line is getting close!!!
I wonder what the next challange will be .

Un update!

The smoke is darker, the ships don't look as bad in the smoke, the explosions look more like they are part of the image, more fire, and other small things like that.

If anyone has any ideas of how to make it better, please tell me as fast as you can since the dead line is soon!

I have sort of changed the mood of the scene, tell me which you like better. This is only the background if you guys think it is worth while I'll render the foreground and all.

Special thanks to 3DChip and Fusion301 for giving me some cool ideas.

OH YEAH!

Much prefer the look of the night shot. There's a lot more atmosphere with the darker more moody scene.

Looks awesome at night! My only critique would be that I think there should still be moon shadows cast by the ships as they pass over the field. Otherwise, it looks great!
