Question camera to ocean

I need help with a problem I'm having, It's kind of a two-fold thing
first - I'm trying to figure out how to make a boat not only float, but also roll with the waves of an ocean. then secondly in one scene the POV is from the characters eyes as he is in the boat, can the camera be animated to follow the waves?
Thanks for any advice you can give me, and sorry it was so long

did you make the waves with a displacement texture?
because then you can make a Null and give the same displacement texture to the motion of the Null. Now you can
parent the Null to camera's/objects/etc.

Hey thanks a lot for the advice, I did use displacement maps, the only problem I had is that the movement was to erratic, but I probably just need to keep experimenting with it till I get it right.
Thanks again
