Default The Simply World Magazine

right I have finally had a good price on the cost of publishing a magazine

The magazine will be a 34 page mag / with high quality grain paper and will come complete with a cd - the mag will cover the 3 main sites we have up at this time

simplymaya
simplylightwave
simplyphotoshop

The book will have 34 pages to start and we will be printing only 5000 copies. A new issue will be released every 3 months.

the book will be split into equal parts covering the 3 different applications. There will be 2 interviews for each app as well as tutorials and general gossip. The cd will contain a couple of high quality models/ and tutorials for each application.

Right heres what I need to know.... I need to know if this is of interest to you guys - the book needs to be sold for around £4 a copy to make this work at all.

The book will only sell from the sites to start with and hopefully will grow into a shop release

How do you guys feel about this?

Thanks

Depends on the content. I haven't bought a CG magazine in a long time primarily because the price is so stupidly high and the contents of the UK magazines don't tend to offer me that much. The Japanese magazines have really got it right in my opinion. Some really great content (primarily organic modelling stuff which is where my main interests are) plus some top notch tutorials.

That is not a bad price at all. Large run mags are expensive enough, so I am impressed you can come up with this number for a short run issue. (short as in, not many). What, do you print it in Scotland?

As far as it's value, yes that would depend on the content.

It might be cool.

Default woof woof

Put me down for a copy. Do you plan to make it possible to pay by points??? Or would that be too complex?

Can't wait for the new SimplyPhotoshop site!!!

Keep smiling Kevin - its almost the weekend.......

keef I had a similar question at SM and Ill just paste me reply if that cool with you:

"unfortunatly this is a seperate venture...and as we are laying out a lot of money for the initial publishing then we will need to seperate it from lifetime / points membership"

-------------------------------------

but saying that keef, its only at an early stage so anything is possible..

Kevin: I am well aware of that. I just left that part out.

And I am still a 3D guru and a SimplyLightwave addict.
