Default Weight Modeling

I just was curious about how to model using weights. I have heard it mentioned before in the forums, but I would have no idea where to start with something like that. Anyone have any knowledge on this subject they are willing to give away? Thanks.

Philip certainly hates Weights in Lightwave. So he describes how to animate without them but if you want a weight tutorial then go to...
