Question WaveFilter Image + Special Buffers

Hi, I'm wondering if someone could help me out.

I'm trying to use the WaveFilter Image plugin to sort parts of my images being too dark when using hdri lighting. That works fine but the thing is I want the WaveFilter Image settings to only apply to certain surfaces in my scene. I understood that I could do this by setting WaveFilter Image properties to 'selected surfaces' and then adjusting the 'special buffer 1' in the surfaces panel for the required surfaces from 0.0 to 1.0, but it doesn't work and the WaveFilter Image still brightens my whole scene rather than the selected objects.

If anyone could help me out I would be really grateful.
Cheers.

Mat
