Default Boolean and subpatching

How do you boolean so that later on you can subpatch it? Whenever I boolean (which is really easy to make certain things) i can't subpatch it. Is there a trick to do both?

After doing a boolean operation it is hard to do subpatch because you will a ton of N-gons. After you apply Boolean go in and weld some points around and make some quads or triangles to get rid of N-gons.
They don't go together very well...

R4s1n, that is a good point after doing a Boolean.

The best thing to do, is to avoid Boolean, til you freeze the sub-patch. If you really need to do a Boolean, try to do subtracts from polys that do not intersect. That way you can use edge tool to create your quads. Try to avoid Tris as much as possible. Just a suggestion when modeling.

If you were like me as a noobie, I would flood my model with too many controls in the beginning. Afterwards, I would end up with too many polys. Keep practicing and you will noticed that you can make the same model with few control points. When you feel that the model needs alot of details, than freeze the model, but save lots of Sub-patch verisons.

I hope this helps.
