Default Lighting Question

I have created a room with two windows. I want to have the camera outside the bldg looking at the windows from afar. It is a night scene with lighting inside the room. When I render the scene, I cannot see the lights thru the glass windows and the light actually lights up the scene and parts of the bldg. How can I keep the light inside the room only and make it look like real lighting is in there.

Hi,

if the light is passing through the walls and lighting the whole scene this could be because you are rendering without shadows turned on in the render options or it could be that in the building object properties, under the render tab you have cast shadows turned off.
