Default Finished McLaren

Greetings All!

This is my first post anywhere so I hope I do it right...

The McLaren is my first real attempt at a photo-realistic model, so go easy on me. Just kidding. I show this stuff to friends and family and they ooh and ahh but I'd like some professional opinions. Thanks!

BTW - Any tips on creating a tiled texture? Is there an eays way or is Photoshop my friend? Here's another shot...

Work on the lighting and reflection or something with the body to make it more shiney, that'll make it look more realistic. Good modeling job!

Excellent renders - nice to see the finished McLaren as well. Can't really advise much on the tiled textures though I'm afraid. Texturing has never really been my bag.

Superb renders. You have what appears to be some unwelded points on the roof at the front by the air intake, but apart from that the modelling looks sound.

For the textures, Phooshop is indeed your friend. You will need to offset the texture by 50% in both X and Y - this will move the seams into the centre of the image. It's then a case of careful use of the smudge and clone tools to hide them as much as possible - this will then give you a tileable texture.

Thanks all for your opinions. Makes me feel like I'm going in the right direction.

Mark - Thanks for the tile tip! Guess I need to expand my PS skills beyond Crop and Save As. I fumbled around in PS with the Clone and Heal tools and I see where you are going with the suggestion. With some practice and patience this is the ticket! Also, the air intake error was all user's fault. Just needed to move some points to tighten up the edges.

Thanks again!

Great Work,

for the tile texture, you can check the tutes for photoshop on the net. There is a lot.

PS: can you put a wire render, please

Thanks Spy323. Yeah, they are aplenty. I found a GREAT noob PS tute on 3dbuZZ.com for free. Those clone-type tools are great!

Here's a wire I rendered before fixing the roof.

Nice, clean wires - see that's how I like wires to be - just so the model with the wires rendered actually looks like the main thing with just a bunch of evenly spaced lines painted on it. :attn:
