UV mapping hair
I'm working on this character and wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good tutorial for UV mapping her hair. I want it cartoony and plastic like. I want to keep it simple and just add a few lines but I'm pretty bad at UV mapping. Any suggestions?

You might want to try standard projections rather than UVs. You can use several layers with alphas to control the placment and visibility.
You should be able to apply 5 maps in a box pattern to do the job. UVs would be a better way to go though. UV mapping isn't really that different from standard projections. If you use UV planar maps with alphas for the seams and a standard projection from the top you should be able to blend the textures easily. If you are comfortable with editing your UV maps, a spherical or planar projection on the Y axis would be best. This tutorial might help as well: http://www.simplylightwave.com/movie...tml?tut_id=534 |
