LightWave v9.6 Released
NewTek is pleased to announce that the fifth free update to LightWave v9, for Windows 32-/64-bit and Mac OS X CFM and UB is now available on your My Downloads page. This new release offers a huge boost to stability with over 625 issues corrected and feature requests implemented, along with parity between the Windows and Mac OS X versions.
Among the new benefits LightWave v9.6 offers artists are:
"LightWave's strengths lie largely in its straightforward workflow which makes it possible for a single artist to take a shot from conception through modeling and animation on to the final shot and its powerful and easy to use modeler." "In 9.6, you can set the near and far points to output a consistent z buffer. This is very useful for artists doing '3D' compositing." "LightWave 9.6 has had a lot of 'under the hood' work done to the render engine to improve speed but also to improve efficiency. The render statistics window showed the global illumination calculation taking almost half as much time under 9.6 as it did under 9.5." -- Digital Media Net Go and get LightWave v9.6 now from your account |

Nice
I think lw9.6 is much more better than 9.5 version. When i start to learn lw, i use 9.5 version on Nov 08. But it's not like what i expect . Not like what they say (when i read in the forums, the adventages of using this program than Max). For instance, the align button. I cant find it. Is this me or the program? Or the fiber fx plugin. I dont see any fiber not only in viewport but alson when i rendered.
But yes, i tried lw9.6 version, this program is cool. I Love it! It's very stable. Now i can learn much more easier without worrying again. Go Lightwave! |

FXfibre
Hi Gun,
I've found the FibreFX tool under the setup tab on my 9.6 modeler screen. Don't ask me how to use it but hope yours is there. In Layout I downloaded the fx manual to see what it said to do, I placed a ball in the scene. You need to add a pixel filter in the 'Effects' panel, press 'ctrl F8' and add the FXfilter under the 'processing' tab, then click 'add pixel filter'. Double click when added and you get the settings panel. activate the object and with the default setting I got the image below when rendered in viper. As for align not sure but there is an aligner in the 'modify-translate-more' tab in modeler. Hope this has been of some use. Daddios |
