If I may say, the notion of "Too meny Polygons" seems very strange, as long as the model looks good, who cares ?
optimizations techniques here too ?

This is why I try to aim at low poly. I'm trying to get the maximum profitm, i.e the best model, with as less as possible on the investment side. Meaning less polygons...

the poly usage you have there didn't seem to me to be done for games, as everything seemed very rounded and smooth, with lots of polys spent on the wheels and tubes and so on. So, I didn't think you were going the low-poly route based on what it looked like.

How many polys do you have?

I think the contest rules said something about the fact that it must be just polys. In other words it doesn't matter how many you end up with, so long as its polys - but I'll let Mike confirm that.

For instance you can make it out of Subdivision surfaces if you want but in the final you would want to freeze it so it ends up being polys.

Also it might be worth looking at the work over at Simplymaya who are involved in the same competition - that'll give you some idea of other people's work and what you're up against.

The poly count now?!

The last model that I've done, the one that I've posted, has 2852 polygons.

I'm trying to make it look as good as possible.
It is shown in SubPatches mode, which means that the number should be multiplied by three... :headbang:

I was told that this model "is not that realistic".
My point is that this item is a fantasy anyway, I'm just trying to make it look good. :bandit:

Hey man a nice transportation machine you got here ,
don't worry about poly limit , just go with the wind and
add screws and other stuff as you like as your machine
is a little lack of it .
add some more pipes and stuff where the steam should go out . add some clocks and driver stuff like belts ,

maybe add some wood blocks cus it supposed to be old
or something like that .
good start keep it going

A minor update:
The propeller has a spindle now.
The seat and the steering poles were moved a bit forward as a preperation for a engine to take place. :bandit:

well done, ninja, make sure you make a nice animation of this mean machine in full flight. this can make a great tool for traveling around the countrysides, Keep it up..
