Btw, great start on the site!
What I like most is the unbeatable Newtek customer service(the opposite of discreet ). And they regulary offer some really, really great deals:

I believe that if you download the LightWave 7.5 files from the NewTek website (http://www.newtek.com/products/light...7.5/index.html ) then this should work in demo mode without a dongle. You're restricted to something like 200 points in an object, and renders are watermarked, but it should allow you to get a feel for it.

Regards,
Mark

Thanks, I'll give it a try when I have the time...

Nope... didn't work. As it is just an update (I believe) the installer tried to search for a previous version of LW and refused to continue after not finding one... Guess I have to wait and save some money...

Hmm. I could have sworn there was a demo version kicking around on there somewhere...

I'll take a look through the Yahoo archives or mail Chuck Baker at NewTek to see where it can be obtained.

OK, I've had a look around and simply can't find a URL for it. However, there are a couple of options.

(1) The discovery edition of LightWave was released on the cover disk of 3D World Magazine Issue 32 December 2002 (Along with a 75 minute tutorial vid). You should be able to try ordering this from the 3D World Website by clicking on the back issues link.

(2) Order the discovery edition direct from NewTek. You can do this by clicking here.

Regards,
Mark

those statistics are pretty amazing!

kbrown,
I have heard that you can download the 7.0b update then install the 7.5 update over the top of it and it should work in demo mode. Let us know how that goes!
I think it is the same as the discovery edition, except the DE CD is FULL of great content. If you contact NewTek they could tell you how to get hold of it.

Unhappy

sorry kbrown, I just look at NewTek's web site and it looks like they don't have the 7.0b update available for download any more... which seems silly if it's the only way to download a demo version.
Definitely contact NewTek about it i reckon.
