Default Problems to be worked out.

Well I had a helluva time getting the UVs right but they just don't want to act right. Last I settled on my Menithings fallback method and things started moving along. The rims of the shoulder armor will not be as you see. I decided to go for a more metallic look. It will definitely be a procedural however. The rest of the skin needs more highlights. It seems a bit flat so I thinking about new design approaches to getting an effective texture. Anyways, here's a pre-render under lighting. Some of the textures are undone and it's putting me behind. Rigging is never a problem however so I submit that I'm still on schedule and darth vader need not find new ways to motivate me

Default drawing to a close

Well in the final texturing stages. Not bad considering all of the problems I ran into with the UV maps. I'm satisfied however. Since the rest of the surfacing will be done in sasquatch, there was no need to mess with it anymore. Next is rigging. This should only take a couple of hours but I'm off to the barber. I'm beginning to look like a nappy dugout. Before midnight, London time, this will be finished, posed, composited and posted in the finished work forum.

Special Thanks to all those who responded to this thread and posted suggestions, and encouragment. Also thanks to those who took the time to peak in.

Talking No more posting

OOpps. I've just recieved word that the textures suck. Now that I'm looking at it in hindsight, the do suck. The skin is way too flat, the face is fine but the rest of the body is YUCK!!!!!

I was also told that the metallic metal trim was way too procedural, the bracers leave much to be desired and that the Orc looks too human. Well I plan to work on these things but not anytime soon. I'm normally a cel-shader and I've got a great deal of work to get done this was just something to do in my spare time so after a weekend of fun and laughter it's back to business. Damn for a while there it looked pretty good. Oh well, can't be good at everything.

Well, I could agree that the skin does look a little flat considering its an orc, but going as far as saying it suck?? no way..
I hope you find time to finish him of, maybe you could make him a cel-shade orc

I'm not gonna edit the model one bit. How it looks is too subjective to even bother with. The texturing however could be better and that is where most of my concern lies. I need to get better at texturing as it remains my greatest weakness. Too much cel-shading I guess. I know the mechanices, I can get the highlights right but when they render, it's never what I expect so I'm gonna chip away at that with a few simple spheres and build myself up.
