Ha! Consider yourself lucky LW users, the update from Maya 4.5 to 5 will cost me 900 USD!

the update? not really... bits here, pieces there... some cool new features though: convert paintFX to polys (Yay!), *full* mental ray implementation (!) and output to vector formats like swf (but LW has that for long)

@#$#$%%$%&&^%^%^%^%@@@!!@@@

I wait nearly 1 year to upgrade and still I manage to buy it 2 weeks before the 1 of April. I must have the worst timing in the history of mankind!
I'll undoubtedly be able to buy the upgrade just before the announcement of 9. Another 12 months watching everyone getting ahead of me.
NOW THAT THAT"S OFF MY CHEST isn't 7.5 fantastic? IT HAS SOME AMAZING NEW FEATURES AND ENHANCEMENTS. How about that spreadsheet dodad, and magic bevel and all the other improvements.

*hands Roux a stiff drink and resumes the head-in-hands-woe-is-me-for-my-timing-doth-suck position*

Just checked my registration info and I actually got mine on the 25th of Feb, so you pipped me to the post there. Make you feel any better? No? I didn't think so

I wonder how far begging will get me when the time comes...!

Ah well....excited to hear about it, and doubt I will know half of what there is to know about 7.5 by the time 8 is released!

*Gulps aforementioned drink and sighs*
Thanks CATFLAVOR! No you're right, i don't feel any better but i plan to do some grovelling myself with my local dealer who assured me that there wouldn't be any release until next year!

As for the features of 7.5, at least we get to learn from others mistakes :-)

My parcel actually arrived on the 13th MARCH! Any contenders on that? Who purchased on the 28th? We need someone else to laugh at.......
LOL

Cool. I doubt I'll be ugrading for a long time. I need a better computer first!

By the way, will it be possible to upgrade from the educational version to full for those two listed prices?

Yeah ChessEv, that's what I want to know, anyone have any clue?

Man Roux, that really sucks, how much are full versions?

philip, could be a lot worse, you could be trying to buy a Flame system...;-) Now that's pricey.
