I'd like to see some more variation in the cornfields (either some hedges, tractor lines, small farmsteads or highways)
Two words: Crop Circles

Thanks for the ideas guys, the problem is that that was supposed to be dryed up grass .
Do you think it would look better if it looks more like a corn field?
I agree that it is too continuess and needs something.
I like the idea of crop circles and a farmstead.

Mark: I'll try your tips soon and post un update, thanks.

Hey Kvaalen,

This scene is *really* coming together well, the ships remind me a little of the style of those featured in the "V" tv series - remember that one? Definitely looking forward to seeing more of the scene. Good luck

yeah, good suggestions by Mark!

try to move the camera a bit lower and angle it up so the horizon is at 1/3 of the frame. (for added drama you could even bank teh camera a bit)

try using a widescreen aspect.

concerning the fog: it starts to far right now; you can really see the beginning of the fog in th city.

Thanks for all the comments, ideas, suggestions... I appreciate them all.

Endless: I don't think I want to add crop circles after all since it is grass and not corn. I could say it is wheat, what do you guys think?

Arlent: Thanks. I don't remember any "V" tv series, when was that?

Philip: Yeah, I did what Mark said, I hope it is better now (Thanks, mark).
I made it wide screen now, and I agree the fog wasn't very good on the city, how is it now?
BTW, can you tell us what are the things that give a higher ranking? (Like making it all in LW...)

I added some hills before the mountains.
I added a tree, and I am thinking of adding a small shack next to it. Tell me what you think. (Don't worry, I'm not going to make it into a sunset scene with a fence. :p)

The mountains and hills used to be in seperate scenes, then I composited them together and used them as a backdrop. The idea was to save on rendering time, but the fog just didn't look right. So now I have them all in one scene and I hope it looks better.

So here is the update.

Kvaalen,

That is really coming together now. Can't wait to see a fully completed shot with the ships and all...

Thanks Mark. I can't wait either. :p

Here is an update on the fighter, I added detail to the guns and played a little with the textures (all gradients and procedurals).
I couldn't think of a better color so I chose red, anyone have an idea for a better color?

I'll be adding many more textures, I'm hoping to keep it all proedurals and gradients.
I also need to add more detail to those wings (I can't think of anything better to call them) and to the top.

I'd like to see it in a highly reflective silver or chrome! Too cliche?

I tried crome but it didn't look good. The top was blue and the sides were gray (becasue of the sky). I can show you a picture if you want to see what I mean.
Thanks anyway.

I picture them all rusty and with lots of panels and rivets...

too much work? maybe, but then again; no pain no gain

but I like that red and white lacquer too.

I can see what you mean. The red just doesn't really give me the feeling of an "alien" space ship, though. Maybe a more metallic red? Ahh what the hell, I'm 0 for 2 now anyway.

Philip: I like the idea of rust with panels and rivits, but for the panels I think I'll have to use texture maps.
Here it is with the rust, nothing is too much work, I enjoy this stuff.

Endless: I see what you mean by more metalic, I think somthing more to reflect should do it, and maybe taking down the diffuse.

Tell me what you guys think is best.

It's funny how everyone imagined something different.

looks great!! only the scale is a little off unless these are meant to be miniatures...

if these are all procedurals, please post the preset in the preset area

I agree the texture is a little big, hope this is better.
Everything is procedurals but the rust is using a shader too, that is why I havn't uploaded it.

I could upload the glass and the muzzle but they aren't anything special, very simple.

Endless: I made another version that is more metalic but has the same red/white stripes. If you want to see it I'll post it.

I origionally imagined the ships textured sort of like race cars, but oh well.

I'm going to bed now, so no more updates tonight.
