I was working out the parenting for the Arm and I wondered if anyone knows how I would go about inserting the arm piston (under upper arm) into the higharchy so it stays attached at both ends (I hope this makes sence outside my head)? planing on setting IK.

I was thinking, parent the piston at the upper end, set up a endo of the piston at full extension, and then somehow set the endo to chanel follow the forearm. This is all assuming the game engines support this kind of setup. On the other hand I have no idea what dynamic systems they use.

At least Im having fun.

I think Im finally begining to understand the concept. Ive been busy refining, and Im glad to say Ive cut it down to 4199 polys. one thing I forgot to do is to build the hoses running around the elbo. I think I might let that go until after I finish the legs. Depending on how my poly count looks, I might be able to flush out some other things. well, Im getting ahead of myself.:p

Finishe the feat ... at least for now. modeled the leg hoses and UV'd them. the hoses are 60 poly each. I think that's pretty good. the total thus far is 6053. only thing left to make are the hoses at the elbo. then on to the UV's.

Out of curiosity, does this model look good enough to be in the norm catigory? I was only wondering because I consider myself a bad judge of my own work. I think its because Im constantly reading as much as I can (got the cartoon character creation books for christmas) and I look at what Im doing or have done and think it could be better if I had ... . Anyway, I'd like to heresome opinions on the topic.

thanks

You could probably save some polys by not having individual toes. That' is in case you find you need them.

Looking good!

bullet_evader, for the hose, I rail extruded a triangle, then I made a endomorph of it straightend and unrolled. then I made the UV and resized the polys to get the correct proportions. then I merged the polys and god rid of the morph map. the grid pic is from one of the tutorials that Techi posted.

mtmckinley, I seem to have planty polys to spare so, if it comes down to it I can reduce it there.
