Much better. Might benefit from some noise layers over the colour map to help break up the repeating nature of it a little (needs to be very subtle though) ... but liking it so far...

I was trying to do what you said but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. I tried adding a turbulent noise above the color uv. Well, here is what I got.?

I agree with Mark, the chainmail looks a whole lot better now than it did before.

there looks like a texture seam running through the middle of the chain mail that I'd suggest trying to smooth out. Looks promising!

Definitely looking better now. The noise texture helps to break up the surface and helps draw the eye to the highlights. Makes it look more natural...

With Mike BTW on the texture seam

Thanks. I saw the line in the chain, I think when I was copying the texture to make the larger areas, I must have been off by a pixle or 2. I wasn't sure how noticeable it was. I'll probably redoo that later this week. For now.. an update.

still not happy with the loin like cloth. Trying to get away from the plastic feel. I'll work on it more tomorrow.

I'm glad to inspire.

Fallenswordsman, your likely a lot better at rigging than I am so it all balances out.

s2-speedy, the challenge isn't about winning, its about the learning by doing. these chalenges push us to be better. I myself have only UV mapped once before, and if it wasn't for this challenge I don't know when i would get around to doing it. But this way I can use the challenge to get better and more comfortable using the techniques, so that I may use it for my own projects. So I encourage you to pit yourself against not only me but all the others over at the sister sites. And ofcourse, have fun.

Oh, also the feedback alone is worth it.

OK... I put away the soapbox.

I think the cloth is about done.
