And here is my first test of the dino in its environment. I am going for the half in the water half out of the water shot. I have taken of the heads to save rendertime. What do you think?

I like the half-in half-out the water idea. If its pulled off correctly, it could look really good.

i also like the half-in-water idea. looks good
but i dont like the green air!!! i dont know if it was just a test or something, but maybe just give it a normal blue sky with clouds and stuff!!! that would be a lot better i think!! but hey... its only my opinion!! maybe the other guys here like the green sky!!! btw. nice watereffect!!! |

thx again for your comments.
Bullet: you never like my green ideas!! but since this dino never exsisted i have decided to go with an alien atmosphere or a planet that is still evolving. I dont plan on using clouds as i like the gassy feel, though i am thinking of adding a volcano and trees. Under the water i am not sure what i am going to do to add more realism, the bottom and bank are not visible through the murk so its hard to add things for people to see. Maybe model some fish? |

hehe sorry ozwolf i like the current 'green' texture on the dino
i understand now what you wants to create!! an alien atmosphere with blue sky and some sweet looking clouds doesn't fit!!! so the only thing i can say...try to give the sky some variation!! check the picture i linked!! its a red sky but with different kind of reds and orange tints... maybe you should do the same with your sky ( but with differen green tints )!!!! http://home.arcor.de/rwstuff/sky_heat(1).jpg not sure how to solve that murk-water problem!!! yeah... maybe some fish would to the thing!!! or give the water a little bit more brownish look and add those little floating dirty dots you see many times in ( especially ) dirty water!!! check this link: http://www.glooskapandthefrog.org/dirty%20water%201.jpg to see what i mean!!! okay enough typing takes me to long to make a understandable text hehe!!! keep going!!! |

thanks bullet i am going to look into everything you have suggested. I have added a more blue tint to the sky and raised the lake bed so it is visible and some rocks. sry very tired.

looks really good man! seeing the bed really adds to the realism and overall mood of the scene. I like the bank too. Can't wait to see the heads added to the scene. Keep it up man! Oh, and where the sky seems light near the ground and gradually darkens as it goes up; really accomplishes some of the alien planet-like atmosphere I think you talkin about. Looks Great.

thanks hopes fall and bullet.
I am looking into the sky variations, the first llink you gave me on an earlier post bullet is a broken link and i cant see the pic. gives me a 404 error. At the moment the sky is nothing more than a gradient and it does need some life. These things i will focus on. |
