Thanks Kvaalen... Yes, I think the legs are begging to be animated...I made sure there was enough clearance for the gear to fold up and into the ship.

Cool!
Something else that will be interesting would be to make it walk! I have made a 4 legged spider-bot sort of thing walk, I wonder how fun it'll be to animate a tri-legged thing .

great one! 30 of them attacking London and you would have your entry for the monthly challenge as well

Well, if I am going to attack anyone (be it London or somewhere else), I guess we'll be needing a weapon...

Looks good, you can see some polygons on the left side that aren't smooth enough.
Let me guess how you did the laser: You made a rod, set it's luminosity up, udded a volumetric light and a lens flare. Right?

Actually you are right...mostly... no volumetrics. I added a glow and then bloomed it to get the nice volume. I did notice that I should have added another small point light beside the leg that the laser passes by as there should be a glow on it as well.
As for the polys, yep, I see em. Hmmm... without rebuilding, will a subdivide smooth this out?

Either what Philip said, or else do subdevide and then choose metaform.
So I got it wrong with the volumetrics . A little tip though, if you are going to apply a transparency to the laser (which I don't think it needs it but IF...), use a volumetric light cause the glow will hardly be visible. |

Of course I will have to take the laser OFF for the competition... that or provide a warning label regarding the fact that children can blow up their parents and or homes if they are not careful... oh and don't look directly into the laser.
