Default FPrime

I see Philip use FPrime when texturing. Can anybody tell me what FPrime can do for me that LW can't ? Is it a kind of VIPER or is it a faster renderer or...?

FPrime is an almost real-time rendering application. Unlike Viper, which only shows a small, low resolution image lacking in most features, FPrime will render most of what the Lightwave renderer is capable of. However, it can do this in a fraction of the time.

Where it really comes into its own however is for real-time placing of lights, etc. You can get pretty much instant feedback on lighting changes. Try doing that with Viper or F9 !!!

I'd check out the FPrime pages on www.worley.com - there's some demonstration videos on there that shows it in action.

I think if you do a search at most Lightwave discussion groups including Newtek's site (vbulletin.newtek.com) you'll find that most folks consider this an indepensible tool. I use it in every session I can. Just wish it did HVs, but hopefully, with the new SDK in 8.2, Worley can finish version 1.5 of Fprime.
