Boolean errors
When ever I subtract one curved object from another (all polygons are planner and non subpatched) right around the cut area, I get that weird shading error, like the polygons that were cut into are not planner anymore, I tried a 3rd party plugin (booldozer) but it didn’t help, I know there is one for non planner I read about at flay.com, but couldn’t get to the web site. Is this just an inherent flaw with Boolean operations? What can I do to avoid this.

It's not just that the polygon may be non planar ... it may have become what's known as 'degenerate'. This means that the points aren't necessarily in the correct order for LW to render it as a true polygon any longer.
The best way around this is to simply kill the polygon, weld any unnecessary points, perform a merge on the object (in case the boolean created any stray, overlapping points) and then recreate the polygon flow by hand using the remaining points. |
