My Favorite Toy Challenge - sandman300
I'm glad that the challenges are back, I missed them. I learned so much quicker and more in these challenges because they gave me something manageable to focus on.
Still, I'm having a hard time deciding on what to model. My first thought was the Second Wind. Since had to be my fav toy as a kid. http://www.hotrodhooch.com/photos/ca...nd-1-set-j.jpg Although I've got some New favs, these I have. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3285/...bb81532e6a.jpg http://www.mltimelines.net/images/ironmanhom3.jpg This is very cool, I guess it counts as a toy... http://gadgetsin.com/uploads/2011/04...n_figure_9.jpg For now I think I'll go with the Second Wind but depending how much time I have I think I might do another.

You can do some nice texture work with Second Wind! The last model would be nice to do as well!

Hey, bullet1968 Nice to see you guys visit our side of the board.
I had never heard of a Sandman car before (so I looked it up). Pretty Wild for a station wagon. Is that the car that was in the first Mad Max film? So, I started working on the Second Wind today. First thing I did was look up references for the toy. The I thought I should just get the one I have, after searching for like an hour, I couldn't find it. I know it's here somewhere, Although I did find a few other cars from my early years. http://images.wikia.com/hotwheels/im...riction_gw.JPG http://www.ioffer.com/img/1096182000/_i/3986915/1.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2016/...04f9326f1c.jpg Anyway, after a little bit of play time, I started working. Nothing too meaningful yet. But I wanted to post something.

I thought I was done for the night but I kept at it anyway. Took a while to massage the poly flow till I was happy with it. Then a bunch of point by point moving. Still a bit to go but I think it's getting close.

The Mach 5 is similar, but quite the same. What had happened was way back in the 70's Mattel tried to get the licensing for the Speed Racer cars but got shot down. I guess they had already been working on a prototype so they just changed it in a couple places and released it as the Second Wind. I always thought of it as the Mach 5 and played with it that way.I think thats why I liked it so much back then, as a child I was a big fan of the Japanese cartoons that played on American TV. I didn't know they were from Japan but even I could tell the difference between series like Starblazers, Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer, Robotech and the American cartoons produces by Warner Brothers, Disney, and Hanna-Barbera. I could Almost say the Second Wind was the beginning of my dream.
I so want one of these. http://www.gothamgarage.net/mach5.html This is what we Americans call a Panel-Van. Although I like yours better. http://gmc-vans.com/wp-content/uploa.../panel-van.jpg

Thanks, Speedy.
I've been having a bit of trouble getting the polyflow to behave. Boolean just would not cooperate with me tonight. But after a couple of trys and a crash/file corruption. I got what I was looking for. I Also did some work on the tires but I'll post them tomorrow.

I dont know LW but in Maya its a pain to boolean, and yes I use them as much as I can LOL. In this case though wouldnt it have been just as good to add edge loops around the geo, then delete faces..extrude edges out then in a little then back under the body? each to his own so well done anyhoo
cheers bullet
