Default Phone - Kvaalen

I'm in!

I didn't want to start a thread till I had a good enough idea but now I think my idea is pretty complex and I won't have the time to finish it, but we'll see.

My phone will be a home phone with two mobile parts that have a very large distance range so they can be used as cellphones but at a normal price (if you aren't too far away from home).
All the phones are voice operated with a few buttons.

The base has a screen for video phone calls, a normal screen (for configuration, calling...), it has an answering machine, option for using a speaker and microphone instead of using one of the mobile parts, and all that stuff.

One of the mobile phones is the size of a regular cellphone with video phone calls including a video camera, games, a TV, calender, writing pad and many other pocket PC benefits (no LightWave though). It has a joystick kind of thing, two buttons, a microphone, a speaker, and of course, it has a big screen too.

The smaller mobile phone will be very small and folds out in a cool way with a cool shape, it has nothing but a screen, two buttons, a microphone, and a speaker.

They all have lots of choices for rings, can be used to comunicate with each other for free and have very long lasting batteries.

There is lots more but this should do.

I have some designs but they aren't complete, I'll be working on this project mostly on weekends so don't be expecting too many updates.

Cool

Since I don't have a scanner I can't post my drawings but hopefully I'll have a way to post them sonner or later.

I had some time to work on this the other day but I couldn't render for the past 3 days so here is what I have till now.
I only worked on the right side so the left side looks horrid (that is why I choose this angle ).
I'm hopping to have some time to work on it some more this weekend.
All textures are temporary.

I had some time to work on it a little more this morning, so here is the way the rest of the base looks.
It will be having much more detail and textures... but this is just the base.
I still have some tweaking to do to it before I add anything.
The little thing on the top left is the small mobile part which also needs quite a bit more work.

And here is a close up of the small mobile part, it also shows how it is held.

EDIT: The head model isn't mine.

Thanks, I usually work on it for a short while during the weekends but this morning I was busy working on some scripts, I'll see if I have time later today or tomarrow.

I have an idea but I'm not so sure how good it'll look... I was thinking it'll be cool if the bigger mobile part could stick on like a very strong magnet to the pad of the phone.

What do you think?

Do you mean the large 'cilynder' and the smaller one as two separate pieces? If so it I'm not sure.. You have a mobile part, already, that is the receiver part and could serve for basic tasking (recall, listen to answ machine and alike) so if I think to funcionality rather than design I can't find a reason to separate the two.. Anyway it's just my thought and keep going the good work

That is not what I meant, you didn't read the first post did you? :p

The phone has two mobile parts (read the first post to know more about them).

One gets attached to the top left (the small one) but the other was going to get attached to the left center of the big cylinder.
My idea was weather it should be attached by something similar to a very strong magnet, so you just stick it on instead of having to hook it up.
It can still recharge though.

Ok, I had to re-read the first post and now I've got it
Yes, it could be interesting but I can't figure right now wich one I'd like more.. also because I can only imagine how you'll model the big mobile part. Anyway, on the design side, it will impact the 'base' a lot more than the mobile part so you could give it a try without loosing too much time, I think

I'm not sure how the bigger part will look, I have some designs but they look too much like a normal cellphone, and if I make it roundish like the base it looks like a toy.
I still have to think of a better idea for it.
