I like the texturing, is it a procedural or did you use an image map?

Only crit is the steps look a little stark, meaning just kinda cut. Most of the stone steps I've seen working in the downtown area of Charlotte, NC have a rounded lip at the edge, and some type of highlights on the flat surfaces where folks step so that water can get off and not have folks slip.

Other than that, excellent.

Well it's both...the image map didn't quite fit my expectations so I simply added a dark turbulence procedural (very simple but it made all the difference)

maybe it's far, far out in the suburb where they don't care if people slip :p
I see what you meen though, thanks for the crit.

What did you do, set it up on an additive/multiply basis or just on a normal basis to overwrite your image map?

I'm just getting my hands around texturing so I thought i would ask.

By the way, I live in the sticks and our stairs also have anti skid stuff. I think the insurance companies require it or something hehe.

One last question, is this the out of the box DOF shader or another one?

thanx Matt!

well Hoopti... I set it simply to normal, but I usually try all to see witch one fits the best.

I used Digital Comfusion. I normaly do that because I think it easier.

well about the steps again....In california (or wherever that original pic was taken) the steps looked like this...probably because they don't have much rain to slip on :p....so I will think of my steps to be from CA then

Very cool indeed, i agree with voices3d, with regards to urban litter and props. maybe you could add graffeti to some of the concrete. The DOF is a nice touch.

Regards
