Unhappy Reflect laser beam?

I'm trying to reflect a laser beam with a mirror(like on a holography table). I'm using a spot light with volumetrics, radiosity, and caustics on... I have two questions:

1) Is there a better (i.e. more effective) way to make something that approximates a laser beam?

2) I've added a small box with 100% reflection (i.e. a mirror), but when rendered, the beam doesn't reflect off the mirror, but only internally (INTO the mirror). Is there a way to make the beam reflect back from the mirror?

See the attached pic for reference of the problem.

Thanks,

Make another laser and place it behind the mirror. Calculate the angle of the reflected beam and rotate the second laser so it maches that angle. Tweak it 'till perfection.
