Hi everyone,
Have been inspired by my wife, Liseelulu & Pi Song to start on modeling animals. I'll probably spend about an hour each day on Animals from now on. I used the Pi Song method of drawing a sillouette with the pen tool first, then extending points out into a dolphin shaped box. Thanx Pi ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Best Wishes daveythegravy

That is actually a Bill Fleming method. He taught it many years ago before his reputation went to hell and he disappeared from the 3D world. It works great putting together a creature though. I remember one of the first things I ever made in LW was a dinosaur this way from one of his tutorials.
The tail looks great. On the dorsel fin, there is more of a curve. You could get that with a bandsaw cut and some point pushing. The head is a little beefier on top. Samething would fix that. Pretty good for ~200 polys though ![]() |

Looks great! as does all your other stuff!! Amazing how organic it seems with such little amount of polys. Bill Fleming?? never heard of him; intrigued as to know more about his method though. Keep it up man...

Looking good, on puppets competition thread they discuss lighting for underwater and the application of caustics. Have a look and it will add alot to the scene. Like zeeman said its to reflective and shiny. but you are just testing. Good work though
Sounds like your using the same method i use to make heads. Pen out the shape, bevel the poly alittle, delete the poly and then extend the polys to form shape. I picked up that method from phillips head tutorial. Last edited by ozwolf; 09-09-2004 at 10:39 AM. |

Hi,
@ zeeman: Thankyou, I fixed the shineyness ![]() @ ozwolf: Thankyou, I checked that link out ![]() I have been experimenting with methods of fakeing caustics across the body of the Dolphin. I finaly used Nicholas Boughen's technique from his book, Lightwave 3D 8 Lighting. I rendered an image sequence of the Underwater Procedural on a flat poly, then applied the image sequence to a spotlight as a projection image. If anyone knows how I can improve this effect, please let me know ![]() >>>>>QT 3meg<<<<< Best Wishes daveythegravy
