Default Rain

hello i am dong a animation and i need to make rain, i am aware of the ocean tutorial and making rain using a textured enviroment, but i want to make rain that isnt in the background, i want rain thats in the scene. The rain also has to be animated. i was thinking of using a fx emitter but i am very new to all the emitters and the settings (i am new to hypervoxels as well)
if some1 can guide me threw the steps in some detail on how to set all this up your help would be greatly appreciated
