Hehe,,, well you are on your way then,,, looking better now. but need more stuff to bind it together, remember a robot has part like legs and arms, so it needs to look connected like a living being, try adding in rivets, joints and so on,,, will look a whole lot better.

Yes I plan on adding all the nuts and bolts to my bot last. I am still not totally sure on the positioning of all the parts so I cannot add all of the neccasary details quite yet.

keep up the good work Colto, even if you dont win you can still join us norms, it can only makes you better.
have you tried to render with some HDRI, might give a bit life to the images?

hehe, haven't tried any final enders yet. I have just been doing clay render so far. Might try it though.

ARGH! I simply cannot get anything out of my current head/Rescue Pod. So I have decided that I am gonna ditch it. It didn't look good with the rest of the robot and I hit all kinds of problems when modelling with it. I am going to model a new rescue pod that is more spherical with a larger eye/lens and TONS of detail. It will have fully functional thrusters and will look just plain cool!

Only thing I haven't decided on it's design is whether to use laser or mechanical arms for the robot. Making the arms and lasers wouldn't be that hard I am just not sure which would look better. Anyone have a preference. Oh and I will post a concept sketch of my bot soon.

Started the pod. So far I kinda just have a sphere with some stenciled detail and holes cut for some large wires to be place there later. I saw a cool robot thing on tv and that is what gave me the design for this bot. I haven't gotten to far but this head already looks mre promising than the last in my eyes.

I think you should start rendering out in something other than the clay type,,, does not look very appealing. Brings down the whole idea. Try the cel shader,,, Hehe will be nice,,, a 2D type render. Try DStrom for better cel shaders.. plugin.

lol no stay with the clay renders. It shows more of the model and it's easier to see everything so easier to truly critique the work

this is looking good, I must confess i was dissatisfied with your last head. This one looks a bit better, but still too early to really tell. good luck, man.

why not both? if its a emergency type robot is it always good to have many options like, lasers to cut the tree in half and arms to pick it up .

Major modelling day! I have finished the main body of the rescue pod. Now I have to add all the arms, lasers, wires, rivets, nuts, bolts, etc. I am just glad I had enough reference pics to help me keep that "pod" look to it. Not sure if I am gonna keep my helicopter rotors though, this bot might look better as all thrusters. Anyway enough blabbering so here is the update.
