Its Bullet Time
Got another request, I'm looking for a good tutorial on creating a matrix-esque bullet time effect in Lightwave. In particular the camera rotating round the objects in slow motion. Although I wouldn't say no to the bullets rippling through the air either.
I managed to find tutorials on this for 3ds max, but none so far for Lightwave, aargh! Thanks in advance for any help |

Yeah when you videotape the bullet flying, don't use much powder at all. Five or ten grains max.

how about just slowing down the rotation of the camera as it pans around the object? not sure about the bullet time effect though

It's cool, I found a page that describes a plugin that can make it a bit easier, have a look at these results:
http://www.worley.com/media/examples...FrozenPool.mov However, here the 3ds max tutorial for the bullet trail matrix effect, that I haven't been able to find a lightwave equivalent for: http://www.3dkingdom.org/modules.php...rder=0&thold=0 |

It worked great but the problem was that there is no way to render one frame out of every camera (unless you do it manually) and I couldn't make a script that would do that either.

Re: Its Bullet Time
It is possible to create this kind of effect with lightWave alone, but I just did a short test and I found a very, very quick and good looking way to create this with LightWave and DFX and you can change things about it in real time including color tinting and stuff of the sort, instead of having to render it out again and agian. It's actually pritty simple but it will take a long time to explain why I do what. I wouldn't mind creating a video tutorial if it wasn't for the fact that the link would get deleted from this forum. If you are desprate I might consider writing a tutorial.

I would think that all you need to do to recreate the bullet ripples is a long wavy transparent tube with refraction. You could blend the edges with the background by using an inverted freznel effect.

Kvaalen, If you did wite a tutorial for that I'd be very appreciative, I think a lot of other people looking for a tutorial to do that effect in Lightwave would probably be thankful too, because there doesn't appear to be one.

Ok, here goes...
This is just the basic idea of how it works, nothing too detailed. As I said this is done using LightWave and DFX, but other progrmas can be used instead. The first part is the LightWave part: And the second part is the DFX part: Enjoy
