Symmetry won't work? why?
I had a basic question.
I based on a video tutorial from 3dbuzz (fundamentals video) LW_i1_03_Modeler_UI.avi In there, i see the person draw a ball, and with Points and Symmetry control selected, he right click and drag an area. Base on him, the symmetry will automatically show the output. But when i drag an area of points, i did not see any symmetry? Why? I had make sure Points (^G) and Symmetry (Y) were selected. Any help, please? I am using Lightwave 7.5. I think the tutorial in 3dbuzz also used Lightwave 7.5. Thanks. |

Did you select the points you wanted to move?
Or maybe the points weren´t on the exact location on both sides. That also effects symmetry. Also symmetry only works on the X axis. on Z and Y Symmetry doesnt work |

When in doubt, delete and mirror one half. There is another way but I dont recall it at the moment.

Did you select the points you wanted to move?
--> I only select the points? Why do i need to move it? In the video, when the 3dbuzz guy select a portion of points, it will automatically show the other symmerty points. Am i missing something? Oh ya, another off topic question, how do i undo in Layout? I know i can undo in Modeler at the bottom toolbar. I always make mistake in Layout. Maybe it is time for me to use 3 button mouse. Hardly can find in my country. All 2 buttons or scroll mouse. Thanks. |

Ok first.
If you do have symmetry on and select a point, sure LW will select the point on the other side, BUT only when it is on the Same location and on the X axis. If you select es Point on the Y axis for instance, LW will not select the oposite one, cause it is not the X axis. The location I mean is, when the mirror side of a poit is on the same coordinate as the one you select, just with a minus in ftron. You get the point. Now the Point you want to work in symmerty with is just about one milmeter off, the symmetry mode will not select it. In Layout you can Undo like in Modeler too. Hit U. But remember. In Layout you can Only Undo ONCE. Not like in modeler. There you can set an amount of 128 undo levels. In Layout it is only ONE undo. Hope I could help ya here. |

Oh, only can undo once.
and only on x axis. Thanks a lot. Learning something now. |
