theres plenty of effects on the web,but most are not of quality.
most of my effects ,i lifted off game files. actually bought games for the sounds and trashed the game or gave it to somebody.
theres some really good stuff on the war games.Stronghold has a ton of sounds.most of the music bits from games i chop out and use Cool Edit to tie together. of course i give credit where due.

I have been lucky and found sound FX CDs in music stores in the
discount area. Space effects, nature effects. The web site on the
CD is http://www.specialmusic.com use the search feature on the
web site and they have cartoon, and nature effects. I also use
sometimes those sound of nature cd that have relaxing ocean sounds, but I ussually have to edit them down to the time I need
them for. I hope this helps you in some way. If you need a specific sound I might have it.

I forgot to mention if you have Sound Forge and an inexpensive
synthesizer you can create a lot of sound fx yourself.

That is soooo illegal.
But makes me smile - keep it up, just keep it quiet.

I found a sound library on 9 cds in pcworld for £10, that does the job every time, takes a while to sift through the tripe, but I'd recommend going to a pc shop and buy the cheap stock librarys.

Or rip them from games - classic mate.
