Default CG Structure.. mind boggling.. HELP

The image I attached to this document is from probe3.com, I have a question about it. It seems comlex, but yet it is just a bunch of geometric shapes.. simple shapes..

How do you go about constructing something like that. Do you import 2d drawings and it gets converted or do you just model some shapes and apply texture.. ? Please if some one could do a similar setup and send me the scene.lw file so I can practice. Or point me a to a tute that would explain it.. It is very neat and I am just trying to lear different concepts..

Big ups to Kumar, Johnny8ball and everyone ..

Thanks alot guys..

Hmm, my thought from looking at the pic is that its geo shapes but there are details so a little modelling will be needed. A 2d import will not be easy to do this. Maybe for the individual items and then combined into one single object. If you are looking to model architecture sort of a thing, start small and work your way up. I personally prefer to do things directly in 3D since the tools are improving very fast.
