Default automated action

Hi all,
I'm trying to animate a simple spacy hatch and would like to automate some things, but don't know how to begin, never done this before.

the idea is this :
doors slide open in opposite directions, and second doors behind it slide open aswell on a 90° bank angle.
( like a cross )

Is there a way to easily animate this in one action through a simple slider or null, instead of animating each door separately ?

I'm thinking of a morphtarget or a null to control the action, but I dunno what's easiest, or where to begin ?!

any ideas ?
