Default Turning wind effector on/off

I'm playing with various techiniques to move the lava around in my lavalamp trying to make it act more like the lavalamp on my real life desk

An obvious solution I wanted to try is to have a wind effector moving the lava up, then just switching the wind off when the lava has got to where i want it and letting gravity pull it back down. ...But I can't seem to turn the wind off...its either in the scene forever or not at all. Anyone know how to switch this thing off and on?

Thanks for any hints!

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that out Nice animation you got there btw!

Out of curiosity, can the effector be animated/switched on and off...anyone?

Thanks for the replies people Not had a chance to fire LW up in days tho :*( Will be giving the suggestions a go as soon as I can.

Just one question tho, what does "give it un envelope" mean Kvaalen? Was it was what Philip hinted - reducing power of the effector with the 'E' button?
