Default lion

I'm getting ready to put my Conan into a scene from one of the stories I just read, "The Tower of the Elephant". There is a scene where he battles a lion in the garden of the tower, so here's the lion-in-progress:

One ferocious looking kitty

One crit...Make his hind legs bigger than the front ones. The back legs are used more often so they are more bulkier and muscular.

Really nice! Love the way you've got the hair as well. There is a sort of CG model feel to it at the moment but I haven't the faintest idea how to sort that out.

I'm not sure right now what to do about the CG look either, but that's ok with me, for the most part. Could be the lighting, which I'm only using a crude setup right now for test renders. The Final Fantasy movie was beautiful, and had the CG look. A painting may look real too, but it's still done with paints and has the telltale signs of that medium, and similarly CG has the "CG look". That's my take on the whole thing, in case you were interested. haha Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

He has whiskers now too!

modified paw shape, fixed (mostly) the hair rendering anomalies on the lower front and back legs, added cheesy ground/sky to make test renders more presentable

yes, sasquatch fur mode.

-updated and final (for now) face color.
-shortened fur around eyes to make them more visible.

Well, after a Modeler crash that completely corrupted and destroyed the lion model while it was saving, I restarted it from an old backup. The only thing in the backup was the body and most of the head, so he's basically redone from scratch. He's back!

Excellent. The only thing is that the dark parts around his eyes make him look like he's got some sort of eyebrow going on there.

Nice, don't really like the last pose since the head looks 'pasted on' but overall modelling appears very flexible and very, very good.

As for looking CG, compare your images to photographs- your images are too 'perfect' and only natural in shape and form but they would never look 'real' in a composite with a photo environment for example but inside a CG environment they'd excell.
