Default Aug/Sept Challenge Rules and Guidelines!

August - September Challenge!

Dinosaurs!

To celebrate the SM T-Rex DVD, we're going to have a big, 2-month challenge featuring Dinosaurs! Here are the rules and guidelines:

The goal: Create a dinosaur! The catch? Create a NEW dinosaur! You can make it serious (Ultra Mega-saurus or whatever) or humerous (the Dog-a-saur! ).

1) Show concepts! Show progress!

2) Texturing IS required. Rigging, animation, etc however is NOT. If you want to pose your dino, you can model it in the pose. Otherwise, you'd have to rig for posing. But either way, posing is not required, but can make an entry look cooler.

3) BONUS goal: Create an environment for your dinosaur! This goal is secondary and should only be attempted once your dinosaur is finished and you have a lot of time left over.

4) Label your thread thusly:

Aug/Sept - Norm or Noob - Your name

Choose to classify yourself as a Normal or Noobie class entry. Whichever class you choose is the class your final submitted entry will compete against! A winner will be chosen from both classes.

5) Mods and Admins can enter, but are inelligible to win and do not count toward the Grand Prize consideration of 8 entries mentioned below. If a mod chooses to participate, choose "Mod" class rather than Norm or Noob.

6) If 8 or more Normal entries finish among the 3 Simply sites participating, a Grand Prize will be rewarded! Regular VIP point prizes will be awarded to both a Normal and Newbie winner, regardless!

The due date of the challenge is September 30th!

The GRAND prize (should there be enough normal entries) will be:

1) A voucher for a free copy of the first SLW DVD!
2) A Lightwave book of your choice!
3) 25 VIP points!

Normal and Newbie winners will both recieve:

1) 20 VIP points for downloading tutorials at any of the Simply sites!

maybe you could do a sabre-tooth tiger-type? Mammoth? Doesn't have to be straight lizard.

I'm not sure I understand the question. This challenge is a 2-monther, so maybe you'll be able to finish this time.

Nice one Mike,,,, glad to see a 2 month challenge. At first i was thinking of doing raptor,, from the rugrats.... or the dino that mario always rides on.... but now thinking harder. Hehe

One question however, LW UV stuff is real bad... so i was thinking can i model in LW and import to Maya and do the texturing there? If not then i will stick to LW all the way. Hmm maybe i should.

Post some links to find some reference would be nice?

Good Luck to all,
Kumar
