Default WeightMapping Problem

Hi all, I finished moderling, texturing and rigging a dog, but when i started to move it the wieght mapping wasnt quite right, but then when I tried to sort it out I then relised that it could be my moderling. I didnt make the dog in the classic 'T' position, maybe I should have : I don't know but I would REALLY like some help and advise.

Best Wishes

Ped
