OK folks, here's the latest frame all comped together from this short anim that I'm attempting to put together for a quick ident for my employer.
There's a fair amount of detail lost (the master renders are 2048x1536), but it's still got the flavour of the original... I'm estimating around another two-three weeks rendering to get this finished - there's around 1000 more frames to go and it's taking around 30 minutes a frame... After that I've got to comp the whole lot in premiere - add the ident shot (that's already rendered) and soundtrack. I'll post a link to as much of the anim as my employer will let me use publicly once it's all done. As you can appreciate with this much render time any crits aren't going to result in a re-model and render, but feedback of any sort is always welcome for the next draft (probably for the same trade show this is for - but in another two years...) ![]() |

Looking good!
Is that Courasant? You know you can use a render farm like http://www.respower.com to render it out faster.

Yeah, but it's not anything that anyone's paying for, so I'm rendering it here at home. Last year's trade show had the obligatory animated logo only since this part of the render wan't finished in time. This year though, I've got until the end of May to get this done...
Oh, and it's the moon - not Coruscant. (Think the opening scene from 2001:A Space Odyssey) |

I've just created a test render of the animation so far - no sound or anything.
It's an mpeg encoded using DivX 5.0.3 at 1024x768. This is around 1/2 the size of the original stills. However, one thing I'm noticing on my machine is that I'm getting some incredibly horrible artifacts on the video - most notably the green mush that appears around the corona and the black voids in there also. The video is a composite of two layers - The stars background is a still plate and the rest of the anim is another layer that has been keyed over black (unfortunately it seems that Premiere 6.02 doesn't like the alpha produced by a 32bit TGA - the objects themselves appear, but the corona where the alpha fades from white to black doesn't appear). Anyone know (a) How I can get rid of those artifacts (is it Premiere settings or DivX settings? The stills are OK) (b) How I can get Premiere's transparency to recognise a greyscale alpha. Also, any other crits/comments welcome... Here's the link (3.2MB): sunrise.mpg |
