Hi Syrogen
There is a great head tut in the book INSIDE LIGHTWAVE 7 by Dan Ablan, I am not very good at modeling heads myself:p, but texturing the head could take you half way in making it look realistic. Regards, Dae ![]()

I'll go over the texturing part in the basic head tutorial.
But on the model I might suggest to sharpen his jawline a bit and maybe have a second look at the lips and nose. There's nothing really *wrong* about your model, only I think some more detail and characterization would do wonders here. Very good start!

yes it looks VERY good to me too ! i guess you didn't use radiosity (or HDRI lightning) if you want a quick and easy way to lit your model, consider using a HDR image as an environment.
did you use sss ? it seems to me, that you did. good work ! |

dea: thanks
![]() philip: yeah, i plan to give him some sort of facial expression, just for more character. RiGLEY: hmm, ive tried radiosity and hdri... but when i try to use them both together this is what i get !! freaky aint it? my sample rate is at 4x12 and shading noise reduction is also checked... ![]()

go to the image editor and apply a blur filter to the HDRI, render again
(make it real blurry, like size set to 10 or something)

I did a model of my son based on the Inside LW7 book and at one point it looked really similar to your 'over-exposed' version, all I can remember is that I found the solution somewhere in the middle between too much texture and looking like a porcelain doll. I hope you have the ambient light off or virtually off.
I hate to tell you to twiddle with the knobs... but that's what I do. Good luck |
