Hi Digi,
Photoshop uses a predefinited RGB setting decided during install time. This could be your problem (that usually is not intended to be a problem :p ); if you want to see the images with your RGB monitor setting (and thus the way you'll see them in a browser) you have to search for the preview submenu (I don't know the exact name in localized versions, mine is under 'visualizza') and choose the option 'no compensation'. You could also preview a standard Mac or Windows RGB setting and as you post images on the web you should find the best compromise between all of them assuming that your monitor gamma is set correctly... Gamma things...

Nice image - Perhaps add a little smudging to the shiny ball surfaces and turn up the antialiasing. It will be interesting to see how you achieve a convincing table texture... I'm sure I saw a felt shader a whileback?

Nicely done, the only thing that really stands out to me is that the balls seem way to bright. They almost look like christmas ornaments. You might also add some chalk marks on the balls, dirty them up a bit, the seem way to clean that is if you are going for realizm.
Hope this helps. |

yep, chalk marks are a good idea, but please: only on the white ball; everything else will be a fould :p
you could also try and lower the diffuse setting for the balls and experiment with color highlights on the advanced tab... curiously waiting for that GI render

Thanks for comments guys, ofcourse there could be some markings on the balls but chalkmarks should only be on the cueball which is not in the picture, however if any of you have some hints on how I could achieve realistic looking marks please tell me..
Im sorry but I had to cancel the GI render.. After 30hours not even 1/5 was done ( how ever what was done looked very good so rest asure that a GI render will come in time. Felt shader sounds interesting, I will go search the net for that cause I havent really been able to make it look very realistic with the procedurals Ive been using now. The colors of some of the balls disturb me too, so I will tweak them and try the tips you guys gave me about diffuse and color highligts settings.. well.. back to tweaking //Matt |

They look much more realistic now. The only thing that stands out to me is the yellow balls the 9 and 1 seem to have to much brown in them now. Looking way better

Thanks for comments mark and threedfanatic, I'll check into the thing about 1 and 9 ball.. I think your right that they are a little too dark/brownish, I'll try and lower the diffuse a little, 7 and 15 also looks a little too dark I think..
thanks again //Matt |

The balls look definitely good now! What is strange to me is the balls' shadow. You can easily feel that there are three strong light sources on the top of the table but not respective shadows on it.. Anyway good work

looking good dude,
Only thing I can notice is the white around the numbers is very "white". The balls I have here at home have the same colour (or material) under the number as in the band circling the ball. Hope you get that. But apart from that they are looking sweet. |
