Thumbs up April Challenge - Kvaalen - Normal

I'm in!

I don't have a scanner, so I can't show any concept art.
Basicly its a creature from hell that comes out of the ground at night.
I haven't yet decided how the head is going to look (I don't like the head im my drawings), but I am taking most of my reference from the balrog of the Lord of the Rings (as any fan should be able to tell ).

I'm modeling it poly by poly, which is the kind of modeling I have the least amount of experience with, hope this works out.

C&C are welcome (of course).

BTW, I think I need to take the nose down a bit or the mouth up, just so it will look a little better.

Thumbs up Another update

Here is another update, I didnt touch the nose after all.
Now the jaw is starting to look a little too square.
I think I should get back to detailing the face.

Thanks.
I smooth shifted a polygon with no movment, moved it out, scaled up, smooth shifted with no movment, scaled down.
Then I repeated it. I also used the bandsaw to sarpen the edges.

I am still going to detail the face quite a bit, I just wanted to see how the horns would come out.

Detailed the face a bit and added teeth, made the neck a little longer too.

That is all for now, need to get back to school.

Great modelling!

The horns look extraordinarily well crafted, ... I have a bit of a problem with the head & the nose though, -they look kinda square-

An update as I said.

I started on the body but I didn't use any reference so I really don't like how it looks. I'm going to try and tweak it but if I still don't like it I might just redo the whole body.

I dont know ... the body looks pretty good. Although I would say that with the size of the head and horns, maybe he could do with some more bulkiness in the pectorals and shoulders...

An update!

I'm not going to be worring about the legs or detailing the back right now since they won't be seen.
He'll be comming out of the ground so you'll only see from the waste up.

It still needs a lot of tweaking though.
