Default October Challenge - Kvaalen - Normal

I had some time to work on this so I started by modeling this lion (I'll be using the roar sound).
I won't be updating it too often, but I'll try to as much as I can.
I don't think I would have participated if it wasn't a two month challenge.

I'm trying to make it very simple, since after all it's an animation challenge and I don't want to put to much time into modeling.
I am afraid that I will need some more geometry around the legs and other parts to make better diformations, but first I'll try without.

BTW, as you can tell I'm going for a cartoonish style.

All comments are welcome.

Are you going for a MGM scene where the lion roars before the film starts?

cool looking lion.

He he... That would be funny. I didn't think of that.

I was going more for some sort of short animation where something funny happens. I'm not yet sure what. Probably just barly over 10 seconds.

I created a basic walking cycle, just to test the rig and all:

I seem to have much more time than I thought I'd have this weekend!
All the better.

Here is a little toy mouse that scares the lion.
There will be no closeups on it, and it won't be anitmated.
It's still only a wip.

All comments are welcome (as usual).

Thanks Kevin,
It's another weekend now, so I'll be working on it a bit more today.

Ok, as promised here is a pose and some stills from an animation where the lion runs and then leaps:

And here is an animation of the mouse popping out of the box that scares the "brave" lion.
Other than the lid openning, it's all animated with expressions.

Thanks for the comments guys... much apriciated.

I guess I should make his tail wag a bit.

I have decided on the basic story line:
This brave lion goes running, leaping and roaring towards a box, then when the mose pops up, he screams and runs away.

It'll probably be barley 15 seconds long.
