Very, very nice modeling. Are you planning on texturing it with that kind of detail too?

Totally awesome! Do you have Blueprints/Photos, or do you have one with you

Handle problems
lol if I had one I would probably shoot next door dog, it never stops barking.
Anyways I ran into trouble like I though I would (the reason I left the bipod, handle and scope till last) I’m not good at modeling round shape objects, I never know where to start. I had a go and I think it looks rubbish.... anyone any ideas of how I could go about doing this? EDIT: made it spelt right and make sence Last edited by sake; 12-03-2005 at 10:56 PM. |

This model looks really nice... I'm particularly impressed with the sharp/machined look bevels on your edges... what's the secret with those? Are you modelling using SDS? I've always found it hard to get well defined, sharp recesses and bumps and so on with SDS... especially with non-round objects.
MORE, MORE! Curious minds want to know... Darren. |

Hi Sake,
I understand about adding edge definition with the knife tools (and the ever useful Bandsaw tool) but I think what puzzles me is the superbly clean lines you're getting. I never seem to get clean surfaces/edges like you have there. Presumably you're having to add knife lines in across the whole model in order to create indents etc. in certain sections? And are you cleaning up the geometry too, so that you can reduce the poly count? Sorry... lots of questions... I think what would really help, when you have time... (and if you're inclined of course) is a small tutorial on one of the sections of the rifle... something showing those indents. Keep up the great work... can't wait to see it finished and textured! Cheers, Darren. |
