Question ???

Is there no September challenge or what? I'm getting better by the week (mostly thanks to Philip) and am waiting for the right category to come up.

What's the deal?

theres not enough interest from SimplyLightWave users to continue the monthly challenges at the moment, hopefully this will change so we can start it up again.

Leovenous / Polar Bear,

Check out this thread:

http://forum.simplylightwave.com/sho...=9453#post9453

In there you'll see a comment from Kevin that soon there will be a generic simply3dworld challenge - so there should be much more scope for getting people into it.

Well how about the Lightwave people VS Maya in a 2 or 3 month competition to make a short 3D comic....

The teams are Lightwave and Maya.....Best comic wins..

It could be good.

I hate to say it - and who am I, since I have never even entered a contest - but, there needs to be an incentive, a prize to drive people to enter a contest and make time to use Lightwave.

My take on the poor turnout for contests here is that there are no new tutorials or other things to spend the winning points on. How about texture or preset packs for winners. Winner only tutorials! Coffee mugs - we could all use one of those. And whatever happened to the T-Shirt??? Perhaps a 3 month contest with a sponsor that can give away something really cool - plugins, gfx cards, memory, DVDs (movies or tutorials) etc.

I also think this site needs to get more users and a reason to drive those users here. Philip's tutorials should not be the only whizz-bang things here that get me to visit here. It dissapoints me to see the front page barren of any real attention grabber for Lightwave users - and not updated frequently.

This site has potential and I'd love to spend more time here - but why? Other places have so much more going on.

unfortunatly we have no money to buy winning gifts for people. But if this was the case then why would simplymaya do as well as it does?

In past times we have really tried to put into this site but with little or no response

We have a few things changing soon which should improve much but for no - no challenges.

oh and btw, it was money that stopped us buying the t-shirts to!

At simply maya we are talking to alias about some advertising and we will be doing the same here, it is the only way that we can have prizes I feel.

I figured money was the issue. It always is.

Then how do you get more users to the site? That's the question.

SimplyMaya has 14,500 users and there's 7,000 here, but they have had 74,000 posts compared to 9,300 here! I fear the more delay there is in doing something the more danger of this site slipping into oblivion.

That would suck big time.

Start an October contest now and rekindle the flame!

I noticed something when I took a look at the tutorials available on SimplyMaya today. It appears that there are several individuals working on tutorials at SimplyMaya.

Is there any plan on expanding the number of individuals working on tutorials here at SimplyLightwave?

It would lessen the workload that Phillip has to contribute, introduce members to new modeling techniques, and increase the amount of content available.
